Overview
Heineken is seeking a skilled Artisan to join the Engineering – Utilities team in Stellenbosch (Western Cape). The role involves mechanical and electrical maintenance, equipment support, and ensuring operational excellence within a cellar and utilities environment.

Key Responsibilities / Focus Areas
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Maintain and repair machinery to best practice standards, ensuring safety.
- Perform mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance on machinery, utilities, and facilities (e.g., lighting, boilers, compressors, pumps, control panels).
- Assist with shutdown planning and ensure spares are available for preventive maintenance.
- Identify and mitigate risks and hazards proactively.
- Provide technical expertise on operating procedures, fault-finding, and troubleshooting.
- Support installation of new equipment and operational improvements.
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and timely.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and comply with standard operating practices.
- Perform welding (argon and arc) and machining tasks as required.
Minimum Requirements / Eligibility
- Minimum N3 with a trade-tested millwright qualification.
- At least 3 years’ experience as an artisan in cellar and utilities environments.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
- Good knowledge of electrical reticulation in a plant environment.
- Experience with wine cellar and utilities equipment is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Competent in argon and arc welding; milling and turning experience a plus.
- Self-motivated, innovative, able to work with limited supervision, and under pressure.
- Good communication skills and team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, and standby duties.
- Own reliable transport.
