About the Bursary Programme
The Nedbank External Bursary Programme provides full-time funding for students studying at South African public universities or universities of technology. The programme aims to develop future leaders by addressing critical skills shortages in STEM and green economy-related fields.
Focus Areas of Study
- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)
- Green Economy-related qualifications
The green economy promotes sustainable development by improving human well-being while reducing environmental risks and resource depletion.
Who Can Apply
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must intend to study full-time towards an undergraduate or honours degree
- Must have admission to a South African public university or university of technology
- Must have proven financial need (household income assessment applies)
- Must have achieved an average of at least 65%
- Note: Applicants with Mathematics Literacy do not qualify

- Full tuition fees
- Accommodation and meals (where applicable)
- Study materials
- Living allowances (depending on assessment)

Student Documents
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Latest academic results (Grade 11 / Grade 12 / university results depending on level)
- Proof of admission to a tertiary institution
- Financial check affidavit (signed)
- Latest 3 months bank statements
Parent/Guardian Documents
- Certified copies of IDs
- Latest payslips or proof of income
- Employment confirmation letters (not older than 3 months)
- Bank statements (last 3 months)
- IRP5 / IT3 / IT12 forms (if applicable)
