Overview

The IT Support Technician will provide technical support within the ICT Unit of the Independent Power Producer Office (IPPO), hosted by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA). This role ensures the effective functioning and maintenance of IT systems and tools that support the strategic operations and deadlines of the IPPO.

Purpose

The IT Support Technician is responsible for providing efficient technical assistance and support to end users, ensuring all computer systems, networks, and software operate effectively. This role supports IPPOโ€™s mission to deliver on energy procurement and advisory services to government and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to all users with logged IT incidents, including diagnosing and resolving software and hardware issues (Windows OS).
  • Analyse and assess technical problems, implementing temporary or permanent fixes, escalating when necessary.
  • Accurately document requests, updates, and asset management changes using the IT service desk system.
  • Create and maintain support documentation to assist staff and improve self-service capabilities.
  • Maintain excellent communication with colleagues at all levels, providing updates on logged tickets and timely escalation.
  • Apply organisational systems, policies, and procedures to deliver results while demonstrating initiative and teamwork.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach, positive attitude, and openness to feedback.

Qualifications & Experience

  • National Diploma in Information Technology (NQF Level 6) or similar.
  • ITIL Foundation certificate advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ helpdesk/IT administrator experience with technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with DHCP, LAN/WAN, endpoint management.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows 7/8/10/11, Windows Server 2008โ€“2019, Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 platform.
  • Excellent verbal, telephonic, and written communication skills.
