Overview
Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is offering a 12–18 month Information Systems Internship Programme for unemployed South African students and graduates. The programme provides structured training, mentorship, and practical workplace exposure to help participants apply academic knowledge in a real-world environment.
Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in information systems and related operational areas within Transnet Freight Rail.
Position Purpose
The internship aims to improve employability by providing workplace exposure, training, and mentorship to students or recent graduates who have completed theoretical studies and require practical experience.
Who Should Apply?
- Unemployed South African citizens aged 18–35.
- Students from TVET Colleges or Higher Education Institutions.
- Applicants who have completed theoretical training but require workplace experience.
- Candidates with no prior work experience in their field.
- Individuals who are available for 12–18 months internship placement.
Minimum Requirements
- Completed or final-year qualification in Information Systems or related field.
- Must have completed theoretical training (where applicable).
- Must not have bursary obligations requiring immediate employment.
- Must be a South African citizen.

- Certified copy of Grade 12 certificate or equivalent
- Certified copy of Information Systems qualification or statement of results
- Proof of residential address
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Stamped letter requesting in-service training (if applicable)
- Proof of theory completion from institution
