Overview
The Programme Support Intern position at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a 6-month internship within the HIV and Health Group (HHG) under the Regional Bureau for Africa. The role supports the #WeBelongAfrica Programme, which focuses on improving governance, inclusion and health outcomes for vulnerable populations in Africa.

Purpose of the Role
The main purpose of this internship is to support the regional programme team in research, coordination, communications and implementation of programme activities related to HIV, health governance and inclusion initiatives across Africa.
The intern assists with programme administration, knowledge management and event coordination, helping the team deliver impactful initiatives that promote human rights and public health.

Focus Areas / Key Responsibilities
Programme Coordination
- Support the implementation and tracking of regional programmes.
- Assist in drafting meeting reports and concept notes.
- Provide administrative support to programme managers.
Event and Meeting Coordination
- Assist in organising workshops, webinars and consultation processes.
- Prepare meeting minutes and follow-up action points.
- Support coordination with programme partners.
Research and Monitoring
- Conduct research on LGBTI+ inclusion and rights issues in priority African countries.
- Monitor regional developments relevant to programme activities.
- Compile research findings to support programme implementation.
Communications and Knowledge Management
- Assist with creating programme content and human-interest stories.
- Develop programme briefs, factsheets and other communication materials.
- Monitor current events and identify opportunities for programme visibility.
- Support knowledge sharing and dissemination of programme publications.
Programme Support
- Provide support for day-to-day programme activities.
- Assist with event organisation and coordination with partners.
- Contribute to documentation and reporting.
Minimum Requirements / Eligibility
Education
- Final year of a Bachelorβs degree; or
- Currently enrolled in a Masterβs degree; or
- Graduated with a Masterβs degree within the last 1 year.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
