
SANDF MSDS 2027 Intake Now Open – 2,000 Youth Opportunities Available!
Programme Overview
The MSDS programme recruits approximately 2,000 volunteers into the following branches:
- South African Army (SA Army)
- South African Air Force (SAAF)
- South African Navy (SAN)
- South African Military Health Service (SAMHS)
Contract Duration: 24 Months
- Year 1: Basic Military Training and Functional/Specialist Training
- Year 2: Deployment and practical application of skills
After completion, a limited number of recruits may receive 10-year full-time contracts, while others transition to the Reserve Force.

✅ Minimum Requirements
- South African citizen (No dual citizenship allowed)
- Aged 18–22 years (Graduates up to 26 years)
- Completed or currently in Grade 12
- Minimum Admission Point Score (APS) of 18 (excluding Life Orientation)
- No serious criminal record or pending cases
- No visible tattoos
- Must meet SANDF medical fitness requirements
- Mathematics and Physical Science required for specialised musterings (e.g., aviation engineering)
